Summary
This article provides instructions to find and update the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Password for customers with the Wi-Fi 6 router from OnBox.
Find the Current SSID and Password
A label is affixed to the bottom of the router with the current SSID and Password.
Note that the router has both a 2.4G and a 5G SSID, and the default password is the same for both.
Change the SSID and Password
Use the following steps to change the SSID and Password of the OnBox Router.
Steps
- Open a browser page. In the location bar, enter http://192.168.1.1 Note that the Sign In page may feature the Summit Broadband logo at the top (if it is a router you are leasing from Summit Broadband), or it may display the OnBox logo (if it is a router you purchased from a store).
- Enter the Administrator username (admin) and password (xxx) in the indicated boxes and click Sign In.
- The landing page displays.
- From the landing page click Basic Setup from the top menu. From the left side menu select WLAN. From the WLAN menu select Wi-Fi Smart Connect.
NOTE: If you need to set different SSIDs and Passwords for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios, uncheck the Smart Connect checkbox (see Step 7). - Enter the new network name in the SSID box. Enter the new password in the Password box.
- To save the new SSID and Password, scroll to the bottom and click Save.
NOTE: Ensure the Authentication is set to WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK and the Encryption is set to AES. - If you need to disable Wi-Fi Smart Connect and change the SSID and Password for each network, repeat Steps 4 - 6 for each of the 2.4G, 5G, and Guest Wi-Fi tabs.
