Physical Security
Created by Cognitive Systems, Plume Sense allows your Superpods to act as physical security for your home without the need for new hardware. However, SuperPods are needed for Plume Sense to function. Plume Sense uses disturbances in the Wi-Fi connections to detect movement within the home. By monitoring changes in the Wi-Fi fields, Plume Sense uses the cloud to determine which changes represent movement. When movement is sensed alerts can be sent to the user’s phone. |
Plume Sense also includes the following features:
- The sensitivity can be adjusted to ignore the movement of pets.
- A live view and history of up to 7 days are visible in the Plume app.
- Connections between SuperPods and devices can also be used to detect motion.
- The alerts can be turned on and off automatically, based on when people are home, no additional monitoring is required.
Activating Sense
By default, Plume Sense is Opt-in, meaning you need to activate it.
- From the Home Screen, scroll down to the Sense section and switch the toggle on.
- It can take up to 3 minutes for Sense to start and be able to detect motion.
During this time, devices that are currently connected to SuperPods will be added to the Sense device list and selected devices are chosen to detect motion.
Changing Settings
You can access Sense settings by tapping either on the Live View in the Home Screen or by tapping on the Sense icon on the Settings screen.
Sense Devices
Once Sense is activated for the first time and motion devices are populated, a Stationary Devices card will appear below the Live view.
This card prompts you to assign the devices to rooms.
Until devices are assigned to rooms, Sense will only show Superpods detecting motion in the Live view.

Until devices are assigned to rooms, Sense will show Superpods detecting motion in the Live view.
Multiple devices can also be assigned to a room from the device list or when assigning a room to a device.
Room assignments make it easier to localize motion.
Once rooms are assigned, the Sense device list will be organized alphabetically based on the created rooms.
Portable devices will automatically be separated and put in the bottom of the list.
The Sense device list is populated with Wi-Fi client devices connected to a SuperPod when Motion Detection is enabled.
The pool of available Sense Devices can then be customized by the user. The pool of available Sense devices allows the user to limit motion detection to certain areas.
From this pool of devices, cloud algorithms will enable up to 3 devices per SuperPod to detect motion and ensure best results. The cloud updates every ten minutes, disabling and substituting unsuitable devices, although this is not displayed in the app.
Tap Done to save the list and return to the Sense menu. | |
Checked devices are eligible to be used to detect motion, although actual devices currently in use is hidden |
- Motion Sensitivity - Adjusts how sensitive (Low, Medium, High) the system is to the changes in Wi-Fi fields. Motion Sensitivity adjusts how much motion intensity is needed to trigger Motion detection. Increasing sensitivity can help if the system has a limited amount of SuperPods and/or sounding devices available.
- Have pets at home? - Available when High sensitivity is set, turning this option on increases the duration necessary to trigger an alert from the standard 2 seconds to 5 seconds.
- Smart Activation - Turning on this option mutes Sense Alerts (push notifications) when people are home. When Sense Alerts are enabled, they will only be sent when everyone is considered away in the People at Home feature.
- Time between alerts - Interval between each notification can be adjusted.
- Sense Alerts - Can be manually turned off to disable all Sense push notifications. When enabled, alerts are only sent for motion events based on the Smart activation mode.
Push notifications for Sense can be disabled separately from other Plume notifications.
A specific amount of motion intensity and duration is required (2 seconds, 5 seconds with Pet mode) to trigger Alerts.
