Programmable Buttons
When programmed, the POWER, INPUT, VOLUME, and MUTE buttons on the TiVo remote can control your TV or AV receiver.
From the Home screen, Menu icon 
, then select Settings > Remote, CableCARD, & Devices > Remote Control Setup. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Pairing
To use voice commands and to control your TiVo box even if the box is not in direct line of sight with the remote (for instance, if it is behind a cabinet door), your remote must be paired with your TiVo box.
The remote should be paired and ready to use after you complete Guided Setup. If the activity light on the remote flashes yellow with each button press, it has been paired successfully.
If the activity light flashes red with each button press, your remote is not completely paired and cannot use voice commands. From the Home screen, Menu icon , then select Settings > Remote, CableCARD, & Devices > Remote Control Setup. Follow the on-screen instructions.
