This article contains instructions and screen images for managing router settings in the app with iOS and Android devices.
Access Router Settings
IMPORTANT NOTE: These instructions apply to routers that Summit Broadband installed for your Plume network. Consult your manufacturer's manual for a router you own that you are using with your Summit Broadband service.
- Tap on the Adapt gear icon.
- Tap on Advanced Settings.
Networking Mode
There are two operation modes for pods:
- Auto - based on its position in the network, the pod determines if it should be in router or bridge (pass-through) mode.
- Router Only - manually locks the pod into router mode.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have more than one pod on your network, locking devices into router only mode can cause connection problems.
IP Reservations
When Plume operates in Router Mode, IP addresses can be reserved. Once a device has an IP reservation, port forwarding rules can be applied.
Tap New IP Reservation and choose the device from the list to apply the reservation.
You can use the Add Manually option to set and IP reservation to a device that has not connected to the network yet.
Once you choose a device, enter the desired IP address.
To manually reserve an IP address, select a nickname, the IP address, and the device's MAC Address.
Tap Done and the reservation will be saved or you can continue to Open a Port or Port Forwarding for that device.
LAN IP Subnet
You can specify what IP subnet is used for your Plume network.
Tap LAN IP Subnet and choose the range you wish to use:
- 10.0.0.x
- 172.16.0.x
- 192.168.1.x
Once you tap Update, the network will need to reboot to apply the change.
After the reboot IP reservations will automatically match the new range.
Custom DNS
When Plume is operating in Router mode, you can set a customer DNS trough the HomePass app.
By default the ISP DNS is used, although a customer DNS can be used such as Google, Cludflare, OpenDNS, etc.
Custom DNS settings will not impact the operation of Plume features like Content Access or Guard.
UPnP
When Plume is operating in Router mode, Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) can be toggled On or Off.
