Your Summit Broadband DVR requires power, a signal from Summit Broadband, and output to your TV. In this article we'll show you how these cables connect to your DVR.
The back of your DVR has many ports where cables can connect. In most cases you will only need three of them.

Signal from Summit
Your DVR gets its signal from Summit Broadband either through Internet or Coaxial cable, depending on whether you have SynergyTM Whole Home DVR service or not.
|If you have a SynergyTM Whole Home DVR, the signal from Summit Broadband will come through an Ethernet port to the left of the Power port. Ethernet cables end in large square connectors with a plastic tab similar to old telephone cable connectors.|

|If you have a stand-alone DVR, the signal from Summit Broadband will come through a coaxial cable at the left side of the DVR. Coaxial cable is round, and has a threaded metal sleeve on the end that screws onto the connector at the wall and the connector on the DVR.|

Output to TV
|If you have a TV made in the last 10 years, your DVR will connect to it through an HDMI cable. HDMI cables have a wide, thin metal tip. Because of bevels on the port and the end of the cable, they can only plug in one way.|
